Greenvolt Power has secured EUR 284 million in project financing for its 253.1 MW wind project in Gurbănești, east of Bucharest, Romania.

The project is now under construction and will be one of the largest wind projects in the country, comprising 42 wind turbines with a capacity of 6.1 MW each.

The financing was structured with a syndicate of eight banks.

Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Power, a leading developer of utility-scale wind, solar and battery energy storage projects, has secured EUR 284 million in project financing for its 253.1 MW wind project in Gurbănești, east of Bucharest, Romania. The project, one of the largest of its kind in the country, is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.

The financing was structured with a syndicate of eight financial institutions: UniCredit S.p.A., Erste Group Bank AG, Banca Comercială Română S.A , Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank, Société Générale, BRD, ING Bank N.V., Alpha Bank S.A.

Comprising 42 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW, the project will add significant new renewable generation capacity and contribute to the decarbonisation of Romania’s power system.

The Gurbănești wind farm is part of the broader Wind Rose platform (506 MW), one of the country’s most significant private renewable energy initiatives currently in progress, which also includes the 253.1 MW Ialomița wind project.

Greenvolt Group has a significant utility-scale pipeline in Romania, comprising 707 MW of wind, 58 MW of solar and 209 MW of battery energy storage projects.
