The Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Next Portugal, takes another step in its strategy to expand the Distributed Generation segment by developing a Production Unit for Self-Consumption for Renova. The solar energy generated will enable the leading paper products brand to strengthen its commitment to sustainability.

Renova’s two industrial units and logistics center in Zibreira, Torres Novas, employing over 600 collaborators, will receive a total of 7,916 photovoltaic solar panels. These panels will be installed both on the industrial space rooftops and adjacent land. The plan also includes implementing carports to charge Renova’s plug-in hybrid and 100% electric vehicle fleet.

With the solar panels to be installed by the Greenvolt Next Portugal team, the installed capacity of this unit will amount to 4.45 MWp. Through this solution, once in operation, Renova will be capable of generating over 6,400 MWh of clean energy annually to power its industrial, logistics, and mobility operations, reducing its reliance on the national electrical grid.

“Collaborating with Renova on this project demanded intensive effort from our teams of specialists in renewable energy solutions,” said Pedro Lavareda de Carvalho, Managing Partner at Greenvolt Next Portugal. “We are now commencing the panel installation, aiming to have Renova consume clean energy in the very near future.”

João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greenvolt Group, this deal reflects the “trust that a renowned Portuguese brand has in our company, which, despite being young, has professionals with decades of experience in delivering renewable energy solutions”. He added, “we will assist Renova in taking this step toward the energy of the future, just as we have done and will continue to do with many other Portuguese businesses”.

Paulo Pereira da Silva, CEO of Renova, stated that “this is a logical step to prepare Renova, a brand with over 200 years of history, for a more sustainable future.” He noted that it will reduce annual CO2 emissions by 3,000 tons, calling it “the right investment, at the right time, with a partner, Greenvolt Next Portugal, capable of meeting our needs and helping us fulfill our mission of contributing to building a better world”.

Renova, a Portuguese brand of consumer products in the tissue paper segment, is an undisputed leader in Portugal, marketing its products in about 70 countries across all five continents. Recognized for producing “the sexiest paper on earth,” the company, founded in 1939, pursues a strategy of constant innovation, regularly resulting in the launch of new solutions for private and business customers.
