Greenvolt – Energias Renováveis launched Energia Unida (EU), a company that reaches the market with an innovative value proposition. EU believes in clean, cheaper energy for everyone, so it bets on the concept of Energy Communities, promoting the sharing of energy produced from photovoltaic panels.

Energy Communities are the best way to promote the production of renewable energy in a decentralized way, an area with enormous potential for growth in a society increasingly aware of the importance of making use of renewable sources”, says João Manso Neto, CEO from Greenvolt. “It is in this spirit that Energia Unida was born”, he concludes.

EU links Producers to Consumers, thus creating Energy Communities. Without having to make any investment, and in a “turnkey” process, Producers can consume the energy generated from photovoltaic panels, with the remaining capacity being shared with Consumers, as long as they are within a radius, on average up to 4 kilometers.

According to José Queirós de Almeida, CEO of Energia Unida, “this solution with an environmental, economic, and social impact, brings important added value to everyone. While it contributes to reducing the carbon footprint, since energy comes from a renewable source, Energia Unida allows both Producers and Consumers to access this innovative value proposition”. Without having to change supplier, they achieve a reduction of up to 20% in the value of the energy consumed.

The EU has already agreed to create some Energy Communities, with an installed capacity corresponding to around 3.1MW, thus avoiding the emission of 1,234 tons of polluting gases into the atmosphere. The first of these Energy Communities was created in the building where both Energia Unida and Greenvolt are located, in Lisbon.
